Every Montesere bag begins with a relationship. We partner with the world’s finest leather craftspeople — makers who share our belief that quality, honesty, and longevity are never negotiable.

Over the past decade, we have traveled to Italy, Spain, Portugal, and beyond to find the artisans who are the very best at what they do. These are not transactional partnerships, they are long-term collaborations built on shared values of heritage craftsmanship, responsible sourcing, and a commitment to making things that last.

Our global network of leather specialists brings together generations of expertise. Their skill, dedication, and care is what makes a Montesere bag worth carrying for a lifetime.

We are honored to work with leather artisans whose techniques have been refined across generations. Each production process reflects a deep respect for tradition, an obsession with detail, and a standard of quality that simply cannot be rushed or replicated at scale.

Artisan hands stitching a leather bag
Hand Stitching Our Italian partners use a traditional saddle-stitch technique passed down through four generations of the same family. Each stitch is set by hand using waxed linen thread, creating a seam that grows stronger with age.
Vegetable-tanned leather hides in a tannery
Vegetable Tanning Our leathers are sourced from tanneries that use traditional vegetable-tanning methods, a slow, natural process that produces hides of exceptional depth, character, and durability. No harsh chemicals, no shortcuts.
Craftsperson shaping a leather bag on a wooden last
Structured Forming The architecture of each bag is shaped by hand on wooden forms, a technique that ensures every silhouette holds its structure beautifully over years of daily use.

We have visited every one of our production partners in person. Over time, these visits became something more  shared meals, family introductions, and a genuine understanding of one another’s values. The people behind our bags are part of the Montesere story.

Small-Batch Production We deliberately produce in small batches with our Italian and Portuguese partners, ensuring we never overproduce. Every bag that leaves the workshop has already found its home.
Recycled leather scraps repurposed
Zero-Waste Cutting Our partners operate zero-waste cutting programs in which leather offcuts are collected, sorted, and repurposed into smaller accessories — nothing goes to landfill. We track and report on material utilization rates each season.
